PASSION THROUGH LEADERSHIP: The Aboitiz Challenge and My Essay

Passion through leadership is simply the willingness to live the hardest challenge of humans and to inspire others to do the same: to simply live. The memory is vivid in my mind when I one day woke up six o’clock in the morning and I never felt like going to school not because of the monotonous environment but because I just want to push the pause button of everything and look at the way I have lived, living and think how I will live. The usual day routine went by where I ate my usual Milo and rice breakfast since I was five, and then I just went back my room to get back to sleep. While I was in my bed, I can’t help but ask myself the lingering questions I have asked my life since high school, “Will life always be like this until the day I die? Did the way I lived amounted to something? Would things be better if I wasn’t here?”
At the end of the day, I concluded all this questions with this simple yet hard to comprehend statement: I don’t have passion. We may try our hardest to make life work for us but without passion to fuel it, we run on an empty. We feel that we are drained and that things that we are doing don’t make a difference. That’s what I experienced during that day when I resolved to find the very thing that will decide everything I’ll be doing in day when I wake up, capture my heart and imagination. Little did I know that God was working His way towards my heart. I joined organizations to interact with people and to do things that are out of my comfort zone, led projects and activities, building a business that changed the lives of people I never expected and given opportunities to people. For somewhat like the first time in my life, I have never felt so alive! With those passing yet meaningful moments I came to the understanding that it makes me happy when I give my God-given skills, talents, wisdom and even financial resources to those who need it. It also brings me great joy when I form and see people change not because I told them to do so but because with my words and actions that they decide to make a conscious decision to change themselves in men and women who lives with purpose and meaning. It bring me joy to see people simply decide to simply live.
